West Indies

West Indies started as one of the favorites to win the tournament and has already made it to the Super Sixes by winning the first two matches. However, their winning streak was broken on Saturday as they were stunned by Zimbabwe, losing the match by 35 runs. This loss will be crucial as a tough game against Sri Lanka lies ahead in the Super Six.

With just two spots up for grabs, the loss against Zimbabwe could prove pivotal.

Kyle Mayers and Brandon King will once again open the batting for the team here. Mayers, who was unable to get going in the first two matches finally managed to get some runs under his belt by scoring a half-century in the last match. West Indies’ biggest strength lies in its middle order.

Skipper Shai Hope has led his team from the front, scoring a century and a half-century in his 3 innings so far, and is the leading run-scorer for the team.  He has received good support from Nicholas Pooran. The other batsmen include all-rounders Jason Holder, Johnson Charles, and Roston Chase, all of whom are capable of scoring big runs.

The bowlers, especially the seamers, have done a decent job too. Alzarri Joseph and Keemo Paul have picked up 11 wickets between them, while Holder and Mayers have played a good supporting role. Akeal Hosein is the specialist spinner on the team and will be aided by Roston Chase.

After losing their opening game against the host’s Zimbabwe, the Netherlands came back strongly to register back-to-back wins against the USA and Nepal. They now have 4 points in 3 matches and are through to the Super Sixes. A win against a strong team like West Indies will give them plenty of confidence ahead of the crucial stages of the tournament where they will presumably have to win most of their matches.

The opening pair of Vikramjit Singh and Max O’Dowd has done a good job for the team so far, providing them with solid starts. O’Dowd has been particularly impressive, scoring 2 half-centuries in his 3 innings, and is the leading run-scorer for the team.

Skipper Scott Edwards has led from the front, scoring important runs in the middle overs and keeping the innings together. The Netherlands does have a few other capable players in the middle order, including Bas De Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, and Wesley Barresi, but they haven’t been consistent enough and that could be a problem for the team.

Coming to the bowling, Logan van Beek, who had a relatively quiet tour so far, came back strongly in the last match, bowling his career-best figures of 4 wickets for 24 runs.

He will once again spearhead the pace attack along with Ryan Klein, with all-rounders De Leede and Vikramjit Singh chipping in. The spinners however have struggled as the likes of Shariz Ahmed and Aryan Dutt have failed to get going.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at the Takashinga Sports Club is flat and hard and allows the batsmen to play their shots with ease. However, the pitch does seem to have become a bit two-paced, and bowlers bowling a good line and length will enjoy plenty of success. A score of around 250 is a par score here.

The weather is expected to remain clear with temperatures of around 20 degrees Celsius.

WI vs NL Betting Tips

Barring the loss in the last match, West Indies have performed well in this tournament. As they face the Netherlands, against whom they have an unblemished record, West Indies have an excellent opportunity to bounce back and given the quality of players on the team, we expect them to do so here.

    Total 4s in the Match

    Under 39.5 (1.91)

The Takashinga Sports Club has a well-balanced surface and provides a good amount of assistance to the bowlers. The pitch has slowed down a bit during this tournament and it is getting increasingly tricky for the batsmen to play the big shots here. Each of the last 3 matches played here has seen fewer than 39 4s being scored here, leading us to recommend this bet.

  1. Betway

    Shai Hope Total Runs

    Over 30.5 (1.83)

Shai Hope has been a consistent performer in the middle order and has played an important role in holding the West Indies batting together. He is the top-scorer for West Indies, scoring 216 runs at an average of 72.00. He has scored 30 or more runs in each of his 3 innings here and we are backing him to play another good inning.
