Swift Gallopers

Swift Gallopers finished at the top of the table with eight points in five matches. Their net run-rate of 2.715 is an evidence of how dominant they have been in the tournament so far. They won most of their matches rather convincingly with colossal margins in respective matches.

Swift Gallopers' start to the tournament was as poor as it could have been. Batting first against Desert Riders in their opening encounter, the Gallopers struggled to score quickly as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. The Riders chased the total down with considerable ease at the end.

The Gallopers haven't looked back ever since their defeat to the Riders. They have not only won their four matches on the trot, but have done so in a dominating manner. Coincidentally, their most recent match was against Flying Onyx, who the Gallopers are set to face in the semifinal. Batting first, the Gallopers scored a total of 98, coniderably low by their standards, but their bowlers won them the match quite comfortably at the end.

All in all, the Gallopers have been brilliant in the tournament so far and while they looked a bit vulnerable in their previous match, they would not be an easy side to deal with for Flying Onyx in the upcoming encounter.

Flying Oryx

Going into their previous match, against the Gallopers, all Flying Onyx needed to do to confirm a berth in the semis was to win that match and they failed to do so. The lost left their qualification chances hinging on the result of the match between Pearl Gladiators and Heat Stormers. Fortunately for the Onyx, the Gladiators won the match, pushing Onyx to the semifinals. Consequently, Flying Onyx finished at the fourth spot on the points table with just one win in five matches and a poor net run-rate of -2.413.

Exactly opposite to Pearl Gladiators, Flying Onyx got off to a terrific start in the tournament. Chasing a total of 83, Flying Onxy won the match convincingly, defeating the Gladiators by nine wickets with more than a couple of overs to spare. Since then, however, the performance of Flying Onyx only dropped as they failed to win any of their four subsequent matches.

It was no different in their most recent encounter as well. While their bowling did incredibly well to keep Gallopers to just 98 with Hussain Talat and Bilawal Iqbal bowling wonderful spells, their batting failed to chase a reasonably total down. Bilawal Iqbal was the pick of their bowlers as he returned with the exceptional figures of 2 for 14 in his two overs.

In what should have been an easy chase, their top-order fell like a pack of cards and their middle-order was left to do too much in too little time. Barring Bilawal Iqbal, who impressed earlier with the ball, was the pick of their batsmen as he scored 18 off 10 deliveries. He remained unbeaten till the very end, but with wickets falling all around him, there was only a little he could have done. Considering how the Onyx have played in their last four matches, it would be difficult for them to challenge Swift Gallopers. Having said that, they are a very capable unit and their performance in their first match of tournament reflected that. Swift Gallopers won't be taking the Onyx lightly in this all important fixtures.
