RCBW vs GGW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 18, 2023
The Royal Challengers Bangalore Women will take on the Gujarat Giants Women for the second time in this season of the Women’s Premier League on Saturday, as both teams face off at the Brabourne Stadium.
The WPL has entered a crucial stage as except for Mumbai Indians, none of the teams have qualified for the next stage. The Delhi Capitals are in a relatively comfortable position with 8 points, leaving the other 3 teams, the UP Warriorz, the Gujarat Giants, and the Royal Challengers to fight for a 3rd place finish.
RCBW vs GGW Team Previews
Royal Challengers Bangalore Women
After losing their first 6 matches on the trot, the RCB Women finally had something to cheer about as they tasted victory by defeating the UP Warriorz earlier this week.
It was a disciplined bowling effort by the Royal Challengers after they chose to bowl first. The seamers did an excellent job as Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, and Sophie Devine took 6 wickets between them. As a result, the Warriorz were bowled out for a modest total of 135.
The chase began on a shaky note for the Bangalore Women as skipper Smriti Mandhana’s torrid time with the bat continued and she was dismissed for a duck in the very first over. At one stage, RCB were 60-4, with their best performers including Sophie Devine, Ellyse Perry, and Heather Knight back in the dugout and the team seemed to be heading for another defeat. However, Kanika Ahuja and Richa Ghosh patiently built up a partnership, putting together 60 runs for the 5th wicket as RCB registered their first win of the season and kept the faint hope of qualification alive.
Perry and Devine are once again likely to play an important role in this match but the fans will be hoping that Smriti Mandhana plays a big inning here. Heather Knight and Richa Ghosh have played well in patches but cannot afford to falter here. Similarly, the bowling attack will need to step up too.
Asha Shobana and Megan Schutt have bowled well in a couple of matches and will be hoping to do the same here.

Gujarat Giants Women
Just like their opponents, the Gujarat Giants too haven’t had the best of times in the middle. However, they managed to pull a surprise win over favorites Delhi Capitals in the last match to keep the playoff hopes alive. The Gujarat Giants have the worst NRR among all the teams and will be hoping to score a big win here to improve on that.
Harleen Deol has been the most consistent player with the bat for the Giants this season, scoring 186 runs in 6 innings. Laura Wolvaardt and Ashleigh Gardner scored individual half-centuries in the match against the Delhi Capitals and put up a partnership of 81 runs to set the base for a win. Gardner has done well with the ball too, picking up 9 wickets so far, and is the leading wicket-taker for the Giants this season.
Sophia Dunkley and D Hemalatha have played a couple of good innings but will need to perform better here. Kim Garth is expected to lead the pace attack, with Mansi Joshi helping her from the other end. The two specialist spinners in the team, skipper Sneh Rana and Tanuja Kanwar have struggled so far and have managed to claim just 4 wickets each in 6 matches.

RCBW vs GGW Toss Prediction
3 of the last 5 matches played at the Brabourne Stadium have been won by teams batting second. We, therefore, think that the winner of the toss will likely opt to bowl first here.
Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.
Pitch and Conditions
The Brabourne Stadium offers a flat surface which is good to bat on and the team batting first will look to get somewhere around 180 runs to give their bowlers a good total to defend. The quicker bowlers find little assistance here and will need to bowl a good line and length. The spinners will get some help though as the ball tends to grip the pitch.
The weather is expected to remain clear with temperatures ranging from 28-31 degrees Celsius.
RCBW vs GGW Betting Tips
After a rather poor start to the season, the win against the UP Warriorz would have been immensely helpful in regaining some of their lost confidence. The RCB team has plenty of match-winners who are capable of turning the game around in a matter of a few overs.
On the other hand, the Gujarat Giants themselves haven’t been in the best of forms and their spin bowling appears to be particularly vulnerable.

Bonus Cricket Bets
Ellyse Perry has been very consistent with the bat and is second on the list of the top run-getters for this season. She has scored a total of 205 runs so far at an average of 41.00, including 2 half-centuries. She has been the top batter for the team in 2 of the last 3 matches and we are backing her to do the same here.
Ashleigh Gardner has been the most reliable bowler in the Giants line-up and is the leading wicket-taker with 9 wickets. She has been the top bowler for her team in 2 of the last 4 matches, including the one against RCB earlier in the season. Seeing her good form, we are backing her to be the top bowler for the Giants in this match.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore have some big hitters at the top of the order who are likely to score some quick runs during the Powerplay. In the 6 matches played by Bangalore so far this season, they have scored over 39.5 runs during the first 6 overs on 5 occasions. We are therefore backing them to do so again here.
