PLR vs NMBG Team Previews

Paarl Rocks

Paarl Rocks may have encountered a few hiccups in their journey in the tournament so far, they have done pretty well on the whole. In a total of nine matches played, they have 23 points to their name, thanks to five wins. Additionally, they have a superb net run-rate of 0.653, which speaks volumes about the dominance they've exhibited.

Paarl Rocks have had a mixed run in tournament thus far and their performance has actually dived in their recent matches. In their last three matches, they've managed to win just one, which was against Jozi Stars. In their last match, Paarl Rocks posted a towering total on the board, but the total was eventually hunted down with considerable ease by Durbam Heat.

Henry Davids and Cameron Delport got Rocks off to a flying start as they combined to add 52 runs for the first wicket in a little over five overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis finally found form as he smashed a belligerent fifty taking the team's total across the 190-run mark.

While the Rocks' batting improved marginally, their bowling's performance was under-par. Not only did their bowlers failed to pick up early wickets, they also failed to stem the flow of runs in the middle as well as the death overs. Barring Tabraiz Shamsi and Isuru Udana, none of their bowlers looked threatening and Durban Heat eventually sealed the deal in the 19th over with six wickets in hand.

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

Nelson Mandela Bay Giants have arguably been the best side of the tournament, winning six of the nine matches they've played so far. Consequently, they occupy the top of the table slot. They have 27 points to their name with a net run-rate of 0.662, which is better than only Paarl Rocks' net run-rate.

The Bay Giants are coming off a remarkable win over Cape Town Blitz, a win that will give them plenty of confidence. In the tournament on the whole, the Bay Giants have lost only a couple of matches and did well to get back to the winning ways after suffering those back to back defeats.

In their previous match, Nelson Mandela posted a reasonably good total of 173 batting first. However, the total was a bit less than where they should have been considering the start they had. Ben Dunk and MP Breetzke got them off to a fabulous start as they put on a solid partnership of 136. Just over a couple of overs later, however, the wicket of JJ Smuts triggered a collapse from which they could never recover. They lost five wickets for just 36 runs in the last six overs.

As was the case in the first innings, it was the story of two halves for the Bay Giants in the second innings as well. Their bowlers were carted around the park in the powerplay and a couple of overs thereafter by Quinton de Kock and Janneman Malan. The introduction of Imran Tahir made all the difference for them as he bowled a fabulous four-over spell, in which he conceded just 22 runs and picked up two wickets in process. JJ Smuts bowled brilliant couple of overs as he gave away just three runs and picked up a wicket in the process as well.

PLR vs NMBG Betting Tips

It's always difficult to choose between the sides when the contest is between the table-toppers and it isn't difficult this time around as well. Both the sides have done pretty well leading up to this fixture and they both have plenty of things going for them. Paarl Rocks will be motivated by the chance they have to finish at the top of the table, in case they win by a big enough margin. With Faf du Plessis and James Vince in superb form, it will not be an easy task to stop the Rocks. Considering that as well as the fact that they are playing in familiar conditions, placing money on their win would be the way to go.
