OMN vs NL Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Feb 15, 2019
The Quadrangular T20 series being held in Oman got off to a good start as we saw some closely contested matches. They were not nail biters but the team showed they could more or less compete with each other. Oman lost its opening match to Ireland by 15 runs but was in the chase for about 8 overs of the inning.
The Netherlands, on the other hand, won their opening match against Scotland and showed that they could be the dark horses to win the Quadrangular T20 outright.
Can the hosts learn from their mistakes and put up a better fight against the Netherlands or will the experience that runs through the Netherlands make the difference once again?
OMN vs NL Team Previews
Oman
A poor bowling performance and a batting collapse consigned Oman to its first defeat of the Quadrangular T20 tournament. Oman’s bowling was toothless against a good Ireland batting unit and just looked completely out of ideas. A lot of improvement will be needed by the Oman side to be able to stop the Netherlands.
Ajay Lalcheta and Fayaz Butt had a good game in the last match but the others were poor.
Most of Oman’s wickets came during the death overs when Ireland was able to accelerate. The lack of pace in the wicket makes slogging the ball hard. Oan must remember that starting can be quite tricky on the slower surfaces and so a couple of wickets can change the game at any moment of time.
The batting was a bit better for Oman. At one stage they were 70 for 2 in 8 overs and it looked like an upset was on the cards. A number of poorly thought out shots saw Oman slip from 70 for 2 to 76 for 6 in just the space of a few balls.
The fact that three out of the top-5 batsmen managed to get into the twenties will raise hopes that one of them could get a big one in the upcoming matches. Khurram Nawaz showed he can clear the boundaries with ease while Jatinder Singh was pretty impressive opening the batting also.
Jatinder Singh is the player that we are looking out for in this match.
Oman Playing 11
Khawar Ali, Jatinder Singh, Aamir Kaleem, Khurram Nawaz, Mohammad Nadeem, Sandeep Goud, Ajay Lalcheta, Naseem Khushi, Fayyaz Butt, Bilal Khan, Jay Odedra.
Netherlands
An excellent win against Scotland would have raised the hopes of the Netherlands players. Scotland has been regarded as the best Associate nation now that Ireland and Afghanistan have got test status and so the Netherlands can be proud for beating them comfortably.
Timm van der Gugten and Fred Klaassen were the bowlers that did the most damage for the Netherlands in their previous game. The e=highly experienced Roelof van der Merwe was also very good with the ball although he did not get any wickets.
We think van der Merwe’s luck is going to change very soon and he could be in the wickets.
The Netherland is not going to change anything against Oman. Its fast bowlers will try and look for wickets while the slower bowlers keep it tight and wait for the pressure to mount.
Stephan Myburgh and Ryan ten Doeschate were the batsmen that the opposition would have been worried about. There is no doubt that Scotland was focussing on these bowlers and allowed the other batsmen to advantage. Tobias Visee was brilliant while opening the batting and ended up scoring 71 from just 43 deliveries.
His inning included three hits over the fence and the runs came at a strike rate of 165.12.
The ability of the senior players to play spin as well the current form of the batting lineup should stand the Netherlands ins good stead against Oman. Ryan ten Doeschate was playing in the Bangladesh Premier League just a few weeks ago and showed just how good he was at forcing the pace against the slower bowlers.
If he can do the same in this match then the Netherlands should not have anything much to worry about.
Netherlands Playing 11
Stephan Myburgh, Tobias Visee, RN ten Doeschate, Sikander Zulfiqar, Paul Van Meekeren, Ben Cooper, Pieter Seelaar, Scott Edwards, Fred Klaassen, Shane Snater, RE Van Der Merwe.

Pitch and Conditions
The Quadrangular T20 series match between Oman and the Netherlands is going to be played at Al Amerat Cricket Ground Oman Cricket (Ministry Turf 1), AL Amarat, Oman. The weather is going to continue to be sunny and dry as is the norm in the region.
The pitch was not too bad for the opening two matches but we would have ideally liked to see some more help to the batsmen. As things stand, a dead wicket with nothing in it for the bowlers can be expected.
OMN vs NL Betting Tips
Oman put up a good fight but its lack of exposure to quality international cricket showed against Ireland. We think the same is likely to happen against the Netherlands as well. The payers in the Netherlands camp know what it takes to win from tough positions. They also have players that are used to playing around the world.
Back the Netherlands to win.
