NAM vs NEP Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Dec 02, 2022
Namibia will face Nepal in the ongoing ICC World Cup League 2 on Friday as it once again tries to move into the top 3 in the points table.
On most cricket betting sites, Namibia is the favorite to win and the odds on offer are pretty short compared to what we would have expected. Nevertheless, the punters can make the most out of this match by playing side bets.
NAM vs NEP Team Previews
After an extended run of wins earlier this year, Namibia seems to have faltered a bit of late, as it has lost 2 of its last 4 matches. The most recent of those losses came on Thursday when it lost to Scotland by 5 wickets. Despite that loss, Namibia is relatively well placed at the 4th position on the points table and trails the USA by just 3 points while having 9 matches in hand.
Captain Gerhard Erasmus was once again in excellent form in the last game scoring an unbeaten 96. With that, he has extended his lead as the top run-getter for Namibia and has now scored 1098 runs at an average of close to 50. JJ Smit has been a great all-rounder for his team, as he has picked up 28 wickets and has also scored close to 600 runs, becoming the second-highest run-scorer.
Jan Frylinck has been missing from the squad and that could lend a blow to Namibia’s ability to field another quality all-rounder. The other batsmen, including Van Lingen and Loftie Eaton, haven’t been very consistent. The bowling will once again rely on Bernard Scholtz and Ruben Trumpelmann, both of whom are two of the top wicket-takers for Namibia. Tangeni Lungameni has been pretty decent with his medium pacers.
Namibia Playing 11
Divan la Cock, Michael Van Lingen, Lohandre Louwrens, Gerhard Erasmus, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton, Jonathan Smit, Zane Green, Karl Birkenstock, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Tangeni Lungameni.
Nepal hasn’t been in the best of forms as it has managed to win just 8 of the 20 matches played so far. The team has lost 4 of the last 5 games that it played in this tournament, and as a result, is second-last on the points table. However, since then, Nepal has won a T20 tournament against Kenya, and also a 3-match ODI series against the UAE, and will be feeling pretty confident as it heads into this leg.
Aasif Sheikh and Rohan Paudel have been the pick of the batsmen in an otherwise underwhelming batting line-up of Nepal, and have scored 481 and 434 runs respectively. Aarif Sheikh and Kushal Bhurtel have got some decent starts but have failed to make a big impact on the proceedings.
As expected, the bowling for Nepal has been heavily reliant on Sandeep Lamicchane, who has picked up 42 wickets from 20 matches. He has received good support from veteran all-rounder Karan KC, who has 37 wickets and 130 runs against his name. Other than them, there is nothing much to write about Nepal’s bowling this season.
Nepal Playing 11
Arjun Saud, Aasif Sheikh, Gyanendra Malla, Rohit Kumar Paudel, Dipendra Singh Airee, Kushal Bhurtel, Aarif Sheikh, Sompal Kami, Gulshan Jha, Lalit Rajbanshi, Sagar Dhakal.

Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at Windhoek is a balanced one, with both, the batsmen as well as the bowlers, finding some assistance. The batsmen will enjoy the even and predictable bounce, while the quicker bowlers will get some swing and movement of the seam early on in the match. The spinners will be able to extract some turn as the match progresses. A score of over 250 will be pretty difficult to chase. The weather is expected to be partly cloudy with no chance of rain and temperature between 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.
NAM vs NEP Betting Tips
We are backing Namibia to win this match. Nepal simply hasn’t been in the best of forms. The batting has been lacking consistency, and the bowling, barring a couple of players, has been average at best.
Bet on a Namibia win.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Gerhard Erasmus has been in excellent form throughout this season. In addition to being Namibia’s top run-getter, he is 4th on the list of top scorers of this tournament. In the last 10 matches, he has scored 532 runs at an average of 66.5. Therefore, we think that Erasmus will enjoy a good day with the bat against a below-average bowling line-up of Nepal.
