MIW vs UPWW Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Mar 18, 2023
The Mumbai Indians Women will be looking to continue their unbeaten run as they face the UP Warriorz for the second time this season, at the DY Patil Cricket Academy.
In their previous encounter, the Mumbai Indians breezed through the Warriorz bowling attack and quite comfortably chased down the target of 160 runs in the 18th over. The Warriorz, desperate to seal a spot in the next round, will be looking to seek revenge here.
MIW vs UPWW Team Previews
Mumbai Indians Women
The Mumbai Indians have been clinical in their performance this season, winning all 5 matches they have played so far, and have become the first team to qualify for the next stage. They are currently at the top of the points table, leading the second places Delhi Capitals by 2 points.
Going by their current form, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Mumbai getting a direct entry to the Finals.
The top-order batters have done an excellent job for MI so far, so much so that the lower middle order hasn’t got a chance to prove their mettle. Hayley Matthews and Yastika Bhatia have given the team some good starts throughout the tournament, while Nat Sciver-Brunt and skipper Harmanpreet Kaur have been solid in the number 3 and number 4 positions respectively.
Others in the batting line-up include Pooja Vastrakar and Amelia Kerr but as mentioned earlier, haven’t got many opportunities to bat this season. Saika Ishaque has been brilliant with her left-arm spin and is the Purple Cap holder with 12 wickets, while Hayley Matthews is a close second with 10.
The seamers, Sciver-Brunt and Issy Wong have picked up 11 wickets between them. Overall, MI has performed like a well-oiled machine, with all the players contributing to the team’s success.
Mumbai Indians Women Playing 11
Yastika Bhatia, Hayley Matthews, Natalie Sciver, Harmanpreet Kaur, Amelia Kerr, Issy Wong, Humaira Kazi, Dhara Gujjar, Amanjot Kaur, Jintimani Nakul Kalita, Saiqa Ishaque.
UP Warriorz Women
The Warriorz will be pretty disappointed with their recent performances. After winning 2 of their first 3 matches, they have lost the last 2 games on the trot and are now 3rd on the points table. They will be desperate to win here to cement their place in the top-3.
As expected, Alyssa Healy and Tahlia McGrath have been the two top-performing batters for the Warriorz this season and both have scored 2 half-centuries each. Indian players including Devika Vaidya and Deepti Sharma have been quite disappointing so far, however, Kiran Navgire has shown flashes of brilliance and can play an important role in the upcoming matches.
The seamers, Anjali Sarvani and Grace Harris have struggled to pick wickets. However, Sophie Ecclestone, who is the top-ranked bowler in Women’s T20 cricket according to the latest ICC rankings, and Deepti Sharma have done a decent job by picking up 16 wickets between them.
While the UP Warriorz has roped in top international talent for their side, they have failed to invest in quality Indian players and that has been one of the main reasons for their average performance so far.

MIW vs UPWW Toss Prediction
5 of the last 6 matches played at this ground have been won by teams batting second. We, therefore, think that the winner of the toss will likely opt to bowl first here.
Read our guide on toss predictions to learn how we analyze and come up with our tips.
Pitch and Conditions
The DY Patil Stadium has a flat surface which is excellent to bat on and the team batting first will look to score over 160-170 runs to give their bowlers a good target to defend. The seamers have generally struggled here as there is very little swing.
However, the pitch does offer plenty of assistance to the slower bowlers. The weather is expected to remain clear with temperatures remaining below the 30-degree mark.
MIW vs UPWW Betting Tips
The Mumbai Indians have performed flawlessly so far and we expect them to continue doing so here. They have some excellent all-rounders in the team which gives them a big advantage against any opposition. On the other hand, the Warriorz lack quality in local players, and they are overly dependent on overseas talent to win matches for them.
Bet on the Mumbai Indians Women to win this match.
Bonus Cricket Bets
The opening pair of Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews has played pretty well for the Mumbai Indians so far. In 3 of the last 4 matches, the duo has put up an opening stand of at least 45 runs, including a partnership of 58 in their previous encounter against the Warriorz. That is why we are recommending an `Over´ bet here.
Saika Ishaque is in excellent form this season and is the Purple Cap holder with 12 wickets. Barring the last match, she has picked up wickets in all the other matches played this season and was the top bowler in 2 of them, including against the UP Warriorz. That’s why we are backing her to be the top bowler for MI in this match.
Saika Ishaque has picked up 2 or more wickets in 4 of the 5 matches played by her this season, including 3 wickets when MI faced the Warriorz earlier this season. Seeing her excellent form, we think she has the capability of putting up a similar performance here.
