MI vs CSK Match Prediction - May 01, 2021

Mumbai Indians Vs Chennai Super Kings - 1-May-2021 Video Preview

The two most successful teams in IPL history are going to face off for the first time in IPL 2021 and everyone is going to be pumped to see this contest. Mumbai Indians were back to winning ways after a tough opening leg in Chennai while Chennai Super Kings are back to their best and winning consistently.

In some ways, the winner of this match will be seen as the favorite for the title moving forward even though it is still early in the IPL to talk about such stuff!

The conditions in Delhi have been batting friendly so far and we have seen two very good performances from MI and CSK in the lead-up to this match. MI is not shy of making changes to its team based on potential matchups while CSK likes to keep things stable in its camp.

It will be interesting to see if there are any team changes ahead of this match.

Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings IPL 2021 is going to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on the 1st of May 2021.

MI vs CSK Team Previews

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians dropped Ishan Kishan and included Nathan Coulter Nile for their match against the Rajasthan Royals. It was a strange move in our opinion and actually ended up making the team a bit imbalanced.

Yes, Krunal Pandya was able to come up the order and play an attacking inning but that is not what MI wants to do on a regular basis. We think Jayant Yadav is going to be dropped for the match against CSK and Ishan Kishan will come back into the team.

Quinton de Kock played a great knock of 70 not out and saw his team home. As sone one who has played for the Delhi franchise for quite some time, the conditions are well-known to him and we think de Kock could play a big role in this upcoming contest as well.

Rohit Sharma has not been at his best so far and Suryakumar Yadav seems to get out just when he is looking set. These two must improve their showing for MI to improve its batting. The all-round strength of Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandya is a massive asset but we do think there is room to add one more genuine batsman in the lineup.

MI’s bowling has been brilliant has helped it win a couple of matches already. Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult are very difficult to get away at the end, Rahul Chahar is one of the leading wicket-takers of IPL 2021 and Krunal Pandya is quite dependable as well.

The second overseas bowler has been rotated so far with Jensen, Milne, and now Coulter-Nile getting a run. Jayant Yadav is probably someone that Mumbai can do without to add a bit of batting depth to the playing eleven.

Chennai Super Kings

It has been so refreshing to see the aggressive approach to batting from CSK. These are essentially the same bunch of players that were finding it hard to adapt in the previous season but they have clearly improved their game.

Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad are in tremendous form with the bat. They will be tested by the MI new ball attack and if they can get through then they could set up the platform for the batsmen to follow. Moeen Ali at number three is always a threat and the rest of the batting lineup is quite potent as well.

Ravindra Jadeja is a genuine number five batsman with serious power-hutting abilities but he lacks a bit of support. Suresh Rain and MS Dhoni are not at their best. They have tried to keep the tempo whenever they have walked in but their discomfort at the crease is clearly visible.

A couple of early wickets could hurt CSK very badly.

The bowling for CSK is also not the strongest. Deepak Chahar has been brilliant with the new ball but once the ball stops swinging, he can go for a lot of runs. Sam Curran is similar in that manner as well. Shardul Thakur continues to play but he is surely running out of chances as he continues to be expensive in every game that he plays.

Lungi Ngidi, Moeen Ali, and Ravindra Jadeja form the remaining of the bowling attack and they all can be taken for runs as well. Overall, CSK has a bowling attack that could struggle against a strong batting lineup on a good pitch and that is exactly what it is going to be facing in this match.

Chennai Super Kings Playing 11

Faf du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, SK Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Sam Curran, SN Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Lungi Ngidi.

MI vs CSK Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss is going to want to field first and that should be seen as a big advantage. There was a lot of dew in the evening match in Delhi and the ball is going to come on to the bat batter. The spinners are going to struggle to get the job done in such conditions. Make sure you give a lot of weight to winning the toss while placing your bets.

Pitch and Conditions

The conditions in Delhi have been quite good for cricket. There is a small chance of rain on match day but hopefully, the rain gods will be kind! The pitch had a lot of grass on it and was watered generously till about the match was about to start. This is to keep the moisture in the pitch and prevent it from taking excess turn.

If there is grass on the pitch then it will be good for batting but if it is shaved off then the spinners will rule the roost.

A score of around 170-180 is par when there is grass on the surface otherwise even 160 can be hard to reach.

MI vs CSK Betting Tips

We are going to back the defending champions, Mumbai Indians, to win this match. Chennai Super Kings have been in better form but their batting lineup has weaknesses to be exploited and its bowling attack is not as good as what Mumbai has.

On a surface where early wickets can sometimes be lost and late power-hitting can be the difference, Mumbai Indians certainly have the advantage.

Bet on Mumbai Indians to win.

Delhi provided an excellent track to bat on in the previous match played there. Quinton de Kock got 70 while chasing down a par total. We think there is a good chance that someone will get set and get a big one again.
