LEI vs KENT Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Aug 26, 2022
After a long hard-fought tussle that lasted for around a month, we finally have the top six sides in the Royal London One Day Cup. The top two sides, one each from each group - Hampshire and Sussex, have already made it to the semis and the competition now remains between the four remaining sides as far as progression to the next round is concerned.
The second quarter-final of the tournament will be played between Leicestershire and Kent and the winner of this contest will meet Hampshire in the 1st Semifinal at Southampton. This quarter-final match, though, is to be played on Friday, 26th August 2022 at the County Ground, Grace Road, Leicester.
LEI vs KENT Team Previews
Leicestershire hardly started as the favorites to progress to the next round but now that they have progressed, they would know that they are just a couple of steps away from the title. They have punched well above their weight in the tournament so far and they will be fancying their chances to go all the way from here.
At the end of the league stage, they finished at the second spot in the Group A points table with six wins from eight matches. In addition to that, they had a net run-rate of 0.039, which isn't going to matter anymore anyway.
Having won four out of their last five matches, Leicestershire are coming into this match on the back of some solid momentum. Most recently, they defeated Durham in a close contest, which they shouldn't have been so. That said, that would have certainly added to their confidence.
On paper, Leicestershire have a fairly well-balanced side with a wee bit of over-reliance on Wiaan Mulder. The good thing is that Mulder has been in pretty good form and will be looking for a big one here in this match. With good experience available right throughout, be it with the bat or with the ball, Leicestershire have all bases covered. If they can play to their potential here in this match, they should sail through to the next round.
Leicestershire Playing 11
Arron Lilley, Beuran Hendricks, Louis Kimber, Nick Welch, Rishi Patel, Chris Wright, Edward Barnes, Harry Swindells, Scott Steel, Sam Evans, Wiaan Mulder.
Kent have been one of the most consistent sides in the history of England domestic structure over the years and have the results to speak for too. However, a trophy has eluded them in recent times and they will be itching to grab the chance they have this time around in the Royal London One Day Cup.
They managed to just sneak through to the quarter-finals with nine points to their name and a pretty poor net run-rate of -0.818. They were pretty inconsistent right through their campaign, evident also by the fact that they finished with the worst net run-rate amongst all teams in their group.
Kent certainly improved as the tournament progressed and did an excellent job to qualify by winning three off their last four matches. In their last match, which was against Lancashire, they scripted a perfect chase as they overhauled the 295 run total with a couple of wickets to spare on the penultimate ball of the match.
The likes of Alex Blakes, Darren Stevens, Joe Denly, and Ben Compton provide their side with much-need experience and that could come in handy in this high-pressure match. Kent would need better contribution from their top-order and if that happens, Leicestershire will have their work cut out.
Kent Playing 11
Alex Blake, Ben Compton, Joey Evison, Darren Stevens, Grant Stewart, Harry Podmore, Harry Finch, Hamidullah Qadri, Joe Denly, Nathan Gilchrist, Ollie Robinson.

LEI vs KENT Betting Tips
With a semi-final spot up for grabs, there couldn't be a better incentive to win this match. Both sides would know that a win here gets them a step closer to the title and they will leave no stone unturned as far as the effort is concerned. Considering the recent form of the two sides, there isn't much to separate the two. On paper, however, Leicestershire do look a bit ahead. They also enjoy the home advantage and that could prove to be a considerable factor in high-pressure games. For that and the other factors mentioned above, we would be placing our money on a Leicestershire win and so should you.
