KKR vs RCB Match Prediction & Betting Tips - May 03, 2021
T20 Cricket is known for the slam, bang, and wallop approach, but a lot more is required to find success in this format. Many teams have tried to go that route in the ongoing IPL 2021, but not all have found success. Chennai Super Kings have been brilliant this season with this strategy, but the other teams have struggled with this all-or-nothing approach.
There are two teams that are very capable of adopting this approach largely because of their respective batting lineups and they will be up against each other in this upcoming match. Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to take on each other in what is going to be an important contest for both sides. We are slowly but steadily marching towards the business end of the tournament and each win is going to be of significant importance. Kolkata Knight Riders vs. Royal Challengers Bangalore, the 30th IPL 2021 match, is to be played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 3rd May 2021.
Update: This match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore is now postponed as two players from KKR camp - Sandeep Warrier and Varun Chakravarthy have tested Covid-19 positive. We'll update on the exact details of the rescheduled fixture once the details are confirmed. In the meantime, head over to the preview for the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai Indians match, which is to be played on 4th May.
KKR vs RCB Team Previews
Kolkata Knight Riders
The Knight Riders have put in a rather strange sort of performance in the tournament so far. Their openers are having a rather quiet time and their middle-order isn't firing. Despite that, they are placed sixth on the points table and could very well rise quickly if they manage to get their act together.
Apart from poor performances, Eoin Morgan's captaincy hasn't really impressed too. It was strange to see Pat Cummins being held back till the very last over when they were defending a rather mediocre total. Cummins, eventually, went on to pick three important wickets in his quota of four overs. Given the form he is in and the fact that none of the other bowlers are performing for KKR, a bet on Cummins to be the top bowler for KKR makes absolute sense.
The major challenge for the Knight Riders will be to get past the Challengers' fast bowlers in the powerplay overs. Both Shubhman Gill and Nitish Rana have looked out of sorts in the last few matches and the onus will be on them to get KKR off to a quick start. If they are able to get that done, KKR have a kind of middle-order that can really launch an assault on any bowling attack in the death overs. At present and considering the form KKR's top-order is in, we can see them losing their first wicket for less than 25 runs on the board.
All in all, Kolkata Knight Riders have struggled for consistency and that's not in one department, but in all three departments. They'd need more from their skipper and the openers before Andre Russell can use his brute to weave some magic. If KKR's top-order does its job successfully, KKR can present a colossal challenge to an inconsistent RCB side.

Royal Challengers Bangalore
Being among the top-four sides in the competition at any stage and having a negative net run rate is a rare sight. However, thanks to a couple of thrashing defeats, Royal Challengers Bangalore's net run rate is now -0.171. Much to their relief, they might not need the net run-rate to come into the picture at all if they can get back to the winning ways. With only one win in their last three matches, RCB have a job at their hands and it is a big one.
At the moment, the Challengers are placed at the third spot on the ladder but have Mumbai Indians breathing right down their neck. In seven completed matches, RCB have won five, which is fine, but the point of concern comes from the fact that their losses have been fairly recent.
RCB's poor performance in the recent matches can largely be attributed to their poor death bowling. Harshal Patel's slower ones haven't been effective and that has allowed the opponents to put up a more than a par total. Owing to the nature of the surface at Ahmedabad, there are high chances that Harshal Patel will be replaced by Navdeep Saini in the upcoming match.
The chances of RCB's success rely heavily on how their batters do. With the likes of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and AB de Villiers, they have a stupendous batting unit, but the lack of consistency is hurting them. Having said that, all those batsmen thrive under pressure and a punt on Virat Kohli scoring a fifty in this upcoming match isn't a bad option.
All in all, Royal Challengers Bangalore have a decent side on paper and if they can execute the goods in the upcoming match, they should be able to dominate their opponents with considerable ease.

KKR vs RCB Betting Tips
This is a battle between two teams who both would want to get back to the winning ways and soon. Even though Royal Challengers Bangalore have struggled to score well twice in their last three matches, they wouldn't be worried, yet. KKR, on the other hand, will be desperate to get their issues sorted. Comparing the two sides on the basis of recent results and on on-paper combinations, a bet in favor of RCB's win should be the way to go here.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Harshal Patel, the current purple cap holder, was mighty effective on sluggish surfaces of Chennai, but has conceded runs rapidly at other venues. Considering his slower-ball exploits are well-known now, KKR's batsmen might be lining up to take advantage. We don't expect Harshal Patel to pick any wicket in this match.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have an opening pair that likes to take the aggressive route right from the word go. In the tournament so far, they have added runs at a rapid rate of 9.66 runs. We expect them to adopt the same approach thereby providing yet another quick start to their side. Expect Royal Challengers Bangalore to have more than 48 runs on the board at the end of the powerplay.
Glenn Maxwell looked in emphatic touch in the first few matches but got jaffas in the last couple of matches. A lot depends on him for RCB to do well and given the form he is in, he will be difficult to stop. Bet on Glenn Maxwell to score a fifty here.
