GGT vs DV Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Feb 08, 2023
Both the Desert Vipers and the Gulf Giants have played some superb cricket during the group stages and have managed to finish as the top 2 teams on the points table.
They will now face each other in the first qualifier scheduled to be played on Wednesday. While the winner will get a direct entry to the finals, the loser will face either the MI Emirates or the Dubai Capitals to have another shot.
GGT vs DV Team Previews
Despite seeing two of their matches get washed away due to rain, the Giants have managed to finish at the top spot with just 1 loss in their 8 completed matches.
James Vince has been the best batsman for the Giants this season, scoring 321 runs in 8 innings, including 3 half-centuries. He has received good support from Shimron Hetmeyer, who scored a quick half-century when both teams last faced each other.
The middle order has seemed to struggle a bit though as the likes of Chris Lynn, Gerhard Erasmus, and Aayan Afzal Khan haven’t been scoring consistently. However, the addition of all-rounders like Colin de Grandhomme and Carlos Brathwaite will surely have a positive impact on the team.
David Wiese picked up a brilliant fifer in the last match against the Sharjah Warriors and was instrumental in handing the Giants their 3rd consecutive win. Weise, along with Chris Jordan, has picked up 29 wickets between them and has rattled the opposition batsmen on many occasions.
The team however is a bit lacking in quality spin options.

The Vipers were clinical in their performance at the start of the season but have seen a slight dip in their form during the past couple of weeks as they lost 2 of their last 4 matches. Nevertheless, they managed to finish in the top-2 and that will be a huge positive for them.
The batting has been one of the highlights of the Vipers’ performance this season. Alex Hales has been in the thick of the action on more than one occasion, scoring 4 half-centuries and a century en route to an aggregate score of 465.
He has received some excellent support from the top and middle-order batsmen like Sam Billings, Colin Munro, and Sherfane Rutherford. The all-rounders, Tom Curran and Rohan Mustafa have done a decent job. Talking about the bowling, the bulk of the heavy lifting has been done by Sheldon Cottrell and Wanindu Hasaranga, both of whom have picked up 23 wickets between them, while Gus Atkinson has chipped in with 9.
Benny Howell seems to be struggling a bit at the moment but will be looking to get back in form quickly.

GGT vs DV Betting Tips
Both teams have played exceedingly well so far and have earned their place in the top 2. There is little separating the two in terms of odds on offer. However, we feel that the Gulf Giants hold a slight edge here. They have built up a good momentum on their journey to the playoffs, while the Vipers have been a bit consistent off late.
Bet on the Gulf Giants to win this match.
Bonus Cricket Bets
Hetmeyer has lived up to his reputation of being a big-hitter of the cricket ball, scoring 2 half-centuries in 7 innings. Both those half-centuries have come against the Desert Vipers, and at this exact venue. We are therefore backing Hetmeyer to put up a repeat performance and once again emerge as the top batsman in his team.
