AFG vs WI Match Prediction & Betting Tips - Oct 20, 2021
Afghanistan and West Indies are two of the most celebrated teams of the shortest format of the game in World Cricket. Afghanistan have done a terrific job in getting to where they are currently at and West Indies have arguably been the most fan-favorite side. They both will be up against each other in their second respective warm-ups match, which is to be played at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on Wednesday, 20th October 2021.
AFG vs WI Team Previews
Even though Afghanistan's previous match against South Africa was a warm-up and carried no points, it was strange to see Afghanistan play without much intent at the top. They started their innings at a pedestrian pace and left a little too much to be done in the death overs.
Afghanistan have an explosive top-order that can score runs quickly, but scoring runs consistently has always been an issue with them. Also, more often than not, they have been guilty of under-utilizing Mohammad Nabi with the bat, who is a fierce striker of the cricket ball. Undoubtedly, Afghanistan's strength is the battery of spinners they have and that will be a key in the upcoming contest as well.
Rashid Khan didn't bowl against the Proteas and we may well see him bowl in the upcoming contest. With surface likely to assist the spinners and Afghanistan having the spin stocks in plenty, they can be a force to deal with if their batting manages to do the needful.
Afghanistan Playing 11
Mohammad Nabi, N Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, M Shahzad, Hazratullah Zazai, Rashid Khan, Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib, Asghar Afghan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Hamid Hassan, Fareed Ahmad Malik.
Even though West Indies have not been consistent over the last few years and have been far from the force they once were, they have still been pretty dominant in the shortest format of the game. It was rather surprising to see them lose the first warm-up without putting in any fight whatsoever, but we do expect them to do a lot better as the competition progresses.
On paper, West Indies have one of the most explosive batting units of the competition. We saw Andre Fletcher open with Lendl Simmons in the previous match, but with none of them being successful, we expect a change. West Indies' middle-order boasts of massive firepower with the names like Shimron Hetmyer, Nicholas Pooran, and Kieron Pollard. They all had a decent experience of playing on these surfaces and that will likely come in handy going forward.
On the bowling front, West Indies have a number of options available, but they are severely under-experienced. Also, we are unlikely to see Andre Russell bowling much in this upcoming contest largely because of fitness issues. Considering that, the onus will be on Ravi Rampaul and Dwayne Bravo to not only pick up wickets but also keep things tight.
All in all, West Indies have a team that is well suited to play the shortest format of the game. However, they have generally struggled when the conditions have been unfavorable for batting and that is something that they will be looking to test here. If their strong batting order fires, they will be a tough side to handle.
West Indies Playing 11
Chris Gayle, Shimron Hetmyer, Evin Lewis, LMP Simmons, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Roston Chase, Andre Russell, Nicholas Pooran, ADS Fletcher, Obed McCoy, Ravi Rampaul, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh, Akeal Hosein.

AFG vs WI Betting Tips
Both these sides did not have a great outing last time around and they both will want to gather some momentum before heading to the main stage. Even though Afghanistan have a terrific spin bowling attack, we believe West Indies have enough resources to deal with that. For that reason and the fact that West Indies have a better-experienced unit, betting on a win for the Caribbean team should be the way to go in this upcoming fixture.
